Vimetco is a globally integrated aluminium Group, with bauxite mines in Sierra Leone, coal mines, aluminium production facilities and electricity plant in China and with alumina refinery and aluminium smelter in Romania. The Company’s strategy is focused on expanding added value areas of the business as well as securing its raw materials and energy needs. In China, Vimetco holds two smelting plants in Gongyi, processing facilities in Zhengzhou, a smelter in Linzhou. A new cast house in China’s Henan Province, for high quality primary products, wire rods, billets and slabs, came on stream in 2Q 2009. In Romania, Vimetco holds an alumina refinery, recently modernised, that is processing the bauxite, supplying the alumina for Alro, the Company’s smelter in Slatina. Alro provides primary and processed aluminium. The quality of Vimetco’s processed products in Romania has been recognised in a number of industries, the Company receiving the NADCAP certification for the aerospace industry. The bauxite mines in Sierra Leone, bought in July 2008, supplies all the necessary raw material for the Romanian operations. Vimetco has grown from a promising start-up to a full listing on the London Stock Exchange in 2007. Today Vimetco is among the top five producers in Europe and among the top ten in China, the world's largest aluminium market. Vimetco Extrusion, was brought to life in 2006,  when the extrusion operations were completely re-structured, based on the initiative and motivation of a new management comprised of international experienced professionals, along with full support from Alro Management.

During its existence there have been made major investments and Vimetco Extrusion won its recognition not only as the biggest extruder in Romania but also as a significant player on the west European extrusion market.

Certified ISO 9001:2015 and currently operating 3 extrusion presses, Vimetco Extrusion employs over 400 workers completely devoted to meet and exceed our customer expectations.

Focusing its production on  6xxx alloys series, in conformity with EN standards, Vimetco Extrusion's products are sold to a variety of applications throughout Europe.

Starting mid of 2009 Vimetco Extrusion has approached as well the domestic market, guided in this initiative by the motto: "Made in Romania, for Romania".
